Rachael Piltch-Loeb is an Assistant Professor at the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy and a Senior Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her research examines how people find, evaluate, and act on health information, with a focus on risk communication, public health emergency preparedness, community resilience, and the quality of the health information environment.

Dr. Piltch-Loeb is the author of The Millennial Caregiver: Caring for Loved Ones in the Busiest Years of Your Life(Sutherland House Books, 2025), which she wrote following her father’s diagnosis of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Drawing on interviews with dozens of caregivers and her expertise in public health and communication science, the book offers practical guidance for younger adults caring for aging or ill family members while managing careers and families of their own.

Her commentary and expertise have appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, National Geographic, Business Insider, the BBC, and Bloomberg News. She serves on the boards of Mind What Matters, a Nashville-based nonprofit, and the Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter in New York City, and she is committed to ensuring that families and caregivers, especially women, have access to accurate, trustworthy information about their health and the supports available to them.
