Marria Pooya
CEO & Founder, Greenwich Medical Spa
Marria Pooya is the CEO and founder of Greenwich Medical Spa (GMS), a leading aesthetic and wellness company serving the tri-state area. Since founding GMS as a two-person operation in 2005, Marria has grown the company into an eight-location enterprise employing more than 50 professionals and serving over 20,000 patients. Under her leadership, GMS has become known for delivering natural results, exceptional patient care, industry-leading clinical training, and highly personalized treatment experiences.
GMS has earned national and regional recognition, including being ranked among the Top 50 BOTOX and filler providers in the United States, the #1 provider in Connecticut, and a top provider of CoolSculpting in the state. Multiple GMS locations have also been recognized as Best Medical Spa by regional lifestyle publications.
A graduate of New York University Stern School of Business with dual degrees in Finance and International Business, Marria began her career on Wall Street as a High Yield Analyst at Lehman Brothers and Alex. Brown & Sons. She later served as Director of Product Development and Marketing at Momtaz Co., where she developed and managed cosmetic brands for domestic and international markets. These experiences shaped her strategic business mindset and entrepreneurial vision.
At the core of Marria’s work is a mission to create confidence so people can become the best version of themselves. She believes confidence is not about perfection, but about helping individuals feel seen, understood, and empowered in their own skin. This philosophy has shaped not only the patient experience at GMS, but also the culture of the organization—one grounded in integrity, excellence, growth, and respect.
Known for combining high standards with deep empathy, Marria is especially passionate about developing future leaders and creating opportunities for women to grow professionally and personally. As the leader of a predominantly female workforce, she has mentored and empowered countless women to build confidence, find their voice, and pursue leadership roles.
Marria’s personal journey has deeply influenced her purpose. Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, and immigrating to the United States as a child, she developed an early understanding of resilience, ambition, and the importance of creating opportunities where few existed. Those experiences continue to fuel her commitment to uplifting others and creating meaningful impact beyond business success.
Her commitment to community impact is reflected in both philanthropy and service. As Co-Chair of the PinkAid 2021 Luncheon and Fashion Show, she helped raise more than $300,000 to support women battling breast cancer. Since launching GMS, Marria and her team have contributed more than $350,000 to charitable organizations focused on empowering women, youth, and vulnerable communities. She has been recognized as one of the Powerful Women of Fairfield County and was selected to the AmSpa Aesthetic Safety Council, which promotes safety, compliance, and excellence within the medical aesthetics industry.
Today, Marria is focused on expanding GMS into a nationally recognized brand while continuing to build a business that creates both economic and human impact. She believes the true measure of success lies not only in growth, but in the lives uplifted, confidence restored, and opportunities created along the way.
