Heidi Lohrfink Nigg: A Lifetime of Compassion, Advocacy, and Hope

For more than three decades, Heidi Lohrfink Nigg has dedicated her life to caring for loved ones affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Her deeply personal journey began with her own family, serving as a caregiver for her mother, father, and both grandfathers as they battled these devastating illnesses. Through these experiences, Heidi developed an unwavering commitment to supporting families facing similar challenges while advancing the search for a cure.

Ten years ago, Heidi and her husband, Brock Nigg, founded Caring for Tomorrow, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting Alzheimer’s awareness, research, education, and caregiver resources. What began as a personal mission has grown into a lasting commitment to improving the lives of individuals and families impacted by dementia.

Research has always been at the heart of Heidi’s family’s mission. Believing that scientific discovery offers the greatest hope for future generations, Heidi and her family made the extraordinary decision to donate her father’s brain to the Alzheimer’s Association following his passing. This selfless gift reflects their enduring belief that every contribution to research brings us one step closer to preventing, treating, and ultimately curing Alzheimer’s disease.

Throughout the years, Heidi has been a passionate champion for women and families affected by Alzheimer’s. She has proudly participated in Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s events across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, helping raise critical funds and awareness. In addition, she has organized and hosted numerous “Sip and Shop” fundraising events throughout Connecticut and New York, bringing communities together in support of the Alzheimer’s cause.

Heidi’s leadership extended beyond fundraising. She served five years on the Alzheimer’s Association Board of Directors, providing strategic guidance and advocating for patients, caregivers, and continued investment in research. After completing her board service, she remained actively engaged with the Alzheimer’s Association while living in Carmel, California, continuing her lifelong commitment to education, advocacy, and community outreach.

Now back on the East Coast, Heidi is honored to continue her mission with CaringKind, New York City’s leading expert on Alzheimer’s and dementia care. In this role, she is helping CaringKind expand its reach to more individuals and families navigating the challenges of dementia. Heidi is especially honored to have been invited to participate in the organization’s 100 Women of Impact movement, joining an inspiring group of leaders committed to advancing awareness, care, and hope for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

Heidi Lohrfink Nigg’s story is one of extraordinary compassion, resilience, and service. Through caregiving, philanthropy, advocacy, leadership, and an unwavering belief in the power of research, she has transformed personal loss into a lifelong mission of hope. Her work continues to inspire others while making a meaningful difference in the lives of countless families facing Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
