Dr. Sarah Richie is a clinical neuropsychologist in private practice based in Brentwood, TN, whose work is rooted in helping patients and their families navigate the course of neurodevelopmental differences and neurological changes. Having conducted over 4,000 evaluations in her career thus far, Dr. Richie is known for translating complex brain-based information into practical, compassionate guidance that families, educators, and care teams can use to create meaningful treatment and support plans.

She is a graduate of Millsaps College (psychology & sociology double major), with summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa distinctions. She was one of 6 students accepted to the Ph.D. program in clinical psychology at the University of Mississippi and finished her Ph.D. in less than 5 years. To serve patients across the lifespan, she completed 2 postdoctoral fellowships: first at the Memphis VA Medical Center (geriatrics and neuropsychology) and then at the UTHSC/Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center’s Neuroscience Institute (clinical neuropsychology in the pediatric/young adult population). She is an Assistant Professor at UTHSC and previously served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Mississippi. In addition to a published book chapter and articles in peer-reviewed journals, she has been a presenter at multiple conferences across several states. She was selected as one of the Memphis Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 and as a “Woman of Distinction” by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at their annual Gold Luncheon.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Richie is passionate about promoting understanding, inclusion, and support for individuals with neurodevelopmental differences and neurological conditions. She has been on the board of Best Buddies TN for several years and on the International Dyslexia Association’s TN branch board since 2025. She is dedicated to volunteering and sponsoring events that support organizations committed to helping people thrive, such as BrightStone, The Mustard Seed, Music City Run for Dyslexia, International Dyslexia Association, Make-A-Wish, Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, Neurofibromatosis Network, and St. Jude. She is also passionate about talking with lawmakers in TN about her patients’ experiences to promote awareness and facilitate meaningful change. She recently started a podcast called Synaptic Sarahs with an expert dyslexia therapist friend. They feature real people talking about real life in the context of their personal journeys with neurodivergence and caregiving to provide insight, expert dialogue, and hope to families beyond those they serve in their private practices.
